Diabetes and Chronic Illness

Living with a chronic illness can be HARD.

Living with a chronic illness in the age of diet culture, may feel impossible.

Do you find that some of the nutrition recommendations to manage your chronic illness require you to be constantly thinking about your illness (more than you already are), eliminate your favorite foods, and leave you feeling confused about what EXACTLY some of the recommendations are doing for you? Or, even worse, feel that some of the recommendations are leaving your relationship food in the gutter and not accounting for the grief and burnout associated with having chronic illness?

What if I told you it doesn’t have to be that way?

No two chronic illnesses are alike. Folks with diabetes can experience drastically different blood glucose responses with similar types of foods. People with PCOS can have a wide variety of symptoms. Things like hypertension, heart disease, and hyperlipidemia can have many different causes and applications depending on things like family history, trauma, life style, etc.

Then there is the emotional toll of living every day with chronic illness. Often times, no two days look alike. The burnout and grief associated are REAL. ‘Body positivity’ may even feel like a far stretch when we are struggling with our emotions around having chronic illness.

As someone living with chronic illnesses, I get it.

If you are interested in learning about the ways you can navigate your treatment without jeopardizing your relationship with your food or body, I’d be honored to support you on this journey.
